An exhibition of painting, works on paper and ceramics presented by Annarie Hildebrand and Yuri Shimmyo.
Wasted Opportunities is an exhibition that contemplates the use of waste as an opportunity for creativity.
Simple shapes and forms of discarded objects are re-envisioned as part of still life compositions, sculptures, and imaginary worlds. This exhibition aims to celebrate the reuse, repurpose and recycling of waste. However, initial attraction to aesthetically pleasing compositions will on closer inspection reveal symbols of pollutants, waste and depreciation. Can a thing that was discarded be transformed into a thing of beauty?
Exploring the boundaries between reality and imagination, Hildebrand and Shimmyo investigate everyday waste to find inspiration and create contemporary artworks.
