North Sydney

North Sydney

North Sydney is just over the Sydney Harbour Bridge and is a great place to see the harbour from a different perspective. View it from the top of a fairground ride, indulge at one of the waterside fine dining restaurants, browse one of Sydney's best vintage markets and explore a delightful secret garden.

Things to do

The Lavender Bay and Milsons Point circuit walk takes in the area's main sights, from Bradfield Park and Broughton St Lookout under the Sydney Harbour Bridge to Luna Park and the North Sydney Olympic Pool (which is currently closed for renovations). Continue along the Lavender Bay Foreshore to get to Wendy’s Secret Garden and Lavender Bay Parklands.

Luna Park is North Sydney's main drawcard. This amusement park is right on the harbour, which makes the Ferris wheel all the more fun because you'll also get to enjoy some fantastic views when you reach the top.

From here, stroll to Lavender Bay and discover artist Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden. This 20-year labour of love has seen a neglected garden transformed into a tranquil public space and lovely picnic spot. Keep walking along the bay to be rewarded with more great views.

Arts aficionados will enjoy the Ensemble Theatre in nearby Kirribilli, it's Australia's longest continuously running professional theatre group. It stages a selection of international classics and Australian works. The bustling Kirribilli Market, held twice a month, is a fashion bargain hunter's dream.
