It’s not hard to find a fabulous golf course in Sydney. There are a number in close proximity to the city centre, perfectly positioned next to the ocean so you can enjoy fantastic views as you tee off. Further afield, you’ll discover courses set amongst the tranquil settings of the majestic Hawkesbury River.

Golf courses near the city

Moore Park Golf is an 18-hole course that’s 15min from the CBD. Further south, the NSW Golf Club in La Perouse, a links-style championship golf course, was voted one of the top 10 courses in Australia. Less than 20min away are St Michael’s Golf Club, The Coast Golf Club and the Randwick Golf Club.

The Royal Sydney Golf Club overlooks picturesque Rose Bay. East Lake Golf Club is set among the picturesque Botany Wetlands, near Sydney Airport. It neighbours the Australian Golf Club, the Lakes Golf Club and the Bonnie Doon Golf Club, one of the oldest courses in Australia.

Beachside golf courses

Bondi Beach is not the only famous landmark in Bondi. The Bondi Golf and Diggers Club’s challenging nine-hole course has breathtaking views of the world-famous beach and the sparkling blue sea. You may even spot migrating humpback whales breaching between May and November.

Head north to Northbridge Golf Club, an 18-hole course with harbour views. Golfing great Peter Thomson described Long Reef Golf Club on the Northern Beaches as 'the best site of any golf course in Sydney' with marvellous ocean views. Nearby, the nine-hole Palm Beach Golf Course sits between Pittwater and Palm Beach.

Greater Sydney golf courses

The Riverside Oaks Golf Resort by the Hawkesbury River is an 18 hole, par 72 championship course, set across 587 acres of unspoilt natural bushland. Further south, in the pretty rural hinterland near Camden, you’ll find Camden Golf Club, an 18 hole, par 71 for men, par 73 for women course.

Driving ranges

Moore Park Golf has a 60-bay, all-weather driving range. Nearby, Cullen’s Driving Range in Little Bay is just 20min from the CBD and has views of the eastern seaboard. Tempe Golf Driving Range, near the airport, has 20 shaded bays and floodlights, so you can practice your swing in the evening.

Further out, Thornleigh Golf Centre has a 50-bay driving range, with 20 automated tees. Golf Paradise in Terrey Hills has a two-level, sheltered complex that can accommodate 58 players. George’s River Driving Range has a full length driving range plus putting green and Pittwater Golf Centre has 40 wide bays plus three teaching bays.
